“I enjoy doing procedures that can dramatically improve the future for my patients. So much can be achieved with interventional cardiology and the results are immediate. What we’re doing here can be life-changing, whether it’s removing an occlusion, inserting a stent into an artery or simply fine-tuning a patient’s daily meds.”

Dr Douglas Scott's Background

Dr Douglas Scott did his basic medical training at the University of Otago and trained in cardiology at Greenlane Hospital. He completed his fellowship in Interventional cardiology in Washington DC and has been principal investigator for nearly 20 major, worldwide clinical trials.

Working as part of Ascot’s multi-disciplinary team, Dr Scott is able to offer his patients the diagnostic tests that are best-suited to their requirements. Interventions can be executed when the need arises, making Ascot a ‘one-stop-shop’ for cardiac diagnosis and treatment. Dr Scott also works at Middlemore Hospital as a consultant cardiologist and is involved with teaching advanced trainees in cardiology, fellows in interventional cardiology and medical students.

Outside work hours, Dr Scott is a highly-accomplished triathlete.
