“It is extremely rewarding to look after patients who aren’t feeling well and make them better. I enjoy helping those who have chronic conditions and improving their overall quality of life. At Ascot Cardiology Group I really enjoy being able to consult with the patients and provide the interventional service as well – it’s a holistic approach with continuity of care that has many advantages. In my practice, I welcome patients from all walks of life, including those from the Chinese community who are looking for easy and clear communication with a heart specialist”

Dr Patricia Ding’s Background

Patricia was born in Shanghai, China, and moved to New Zealand with her parents in the early 1990s. She is the first female mandarin speaking Interventional Cardiologist in New Zealand, who has a special interest in managing coronary artery disease.

After completing her advanced training and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the Greenlane Cardiovascular Service, Patricia traveled to the UK to complete an Interventional Fellowship at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.

Upon returning to New Zealand, Patricia worked at Whangarei Hospital before moving back to Auckland in 2017, where she now works full time in private at Ascot Cardiology Group.

Patricia is passionate about cardiovascular risk factor management and treatment for chronic cardiac conditions. She believes optimal medical therapy is the basis of treatment while integrating appropriate needs and timing for intervention to achieve the best possible long-term outcome for her patients.

A fluent Mandarin and Shanghainese speaker, Patricia enjoys communicating with Chinese patients in their native language.

Outside of work Patricia is an enthusiastic gardener, enjoys spending time with her son. She is also taking lessons for classical piano, Chinese calligraphy, and painting.
