MB chB (Auckland University)

“It is very humbling to be able to be involved in people’s lives when they are feeling vulnerable and unwell. By communicating with people in terms they can understand and offering investigation of troubling symptoms, hopefully they can be reassured and managed to improve their quality of life. Sometimes procedures or medications can be of great assistance, but other times simple explanations are all that is required.”

Dr Glenie completed his medical degree at Auckland University having attended Kings College in Auckland for his secondary school education. He then completed his FRACP in Internal Medicine in 2008 before starting Cardiology training at Greenlane Hospital. Dr Glenie is interested in both coronary artery intervention as well as advanced cardiac imaging techniques involving cardiac MRI. He completed an advanced imaging fellowship programme at Greenlane Hospital involving cardiac MRI and cardiac CT scanning. Having finished this he then completed a coronary interventional fellowship at Greenlane Hospital.

Tim then had the opportunity to work with internationally recognised cardiologist Dr Stephen Worthley at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia. Here Dr Glenie was involved in clinical trial work with Cardiac MRI, coronary angioplasty and percutaneous aortic valve implantation.

More recently Dr Glenie has been working as an interventional cardiologist in Dunedin Public Hospital and was a senior clinical lecturer for the Otago Medical School. In 2015 he and his partner have moved back to Auckland and he is working at North Shore Hospital and Ascot Hospital as a general and interventional cardiologist with an interest in cardiac MRI.

Outside of work Tim is a keen trout fisherman and sailor.

Tim practices at Ascot Hospital, Greenlane and runs a Satellite Clinic at Shore Care North Cross, 948 East Coast Road, Browns Bay
