Glossary: Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator
(ICD) A device implanted which assesses and treats lethal arrhythmias. It is similar to a pacemaker yet has a lead placed in the ventricle which can sense and defibrillate, correcting life-threatening arrhythmias.
